PDF map of the Rotary Way trail system
The Rotary Way Trail connects Athabasca from east to west, and several places in between, with beautiful and mostly-paved walking trails. The east section provides a beautiful river view along a paved pathway linking the east side of town to the riverfront and west side of town. The west section provides a walking path between Edwin Parr Composite High School and the Athabasca Regional Multiplex Fitness and Aquatic Centre and links with the riverfront trail and east trail. Along the riverfront boardwalk interpretive signage is displayed on the south bank of the Athabasca River. The riverfront paved trail is wheelchair accessible and picnic tables and benches placed along the walk make it an ideal stopping place to view the river or enjoy a break. Parking is plentiful at trail heads and riverfront. Side trails connect to the TransCanada Trail, Muskeg Creek Trails, and the Rotary Trail system in downtown Athabasca.

Developed in the 1980s and maintained by the Town of Athabasca and Athabasca University, the Muskeg Creek Trail system wends in and out of the Muskeg Creek valley with several access points including the ski chalet at Landing Trail Intermediate School and Athabasca University. Motorized vehicles do not have access to the trails and they are used by walkers, bicyclers and skiers year round. This map of the trails is posted at various places and you'll find signage describing the flora and fauna.
